1968 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE 427 CUBIC INCH 400 HORSEPOWER TRI-POWER. TO START WITH, THIS CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL #'S MATCHING MOTOR AND #'S MATCHING TRANSMISSION. THIS IS NOT A RESTAMPED ENGINE, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. WE ALSO HAVE A MOSTLY LEGIBLE TANK STICKER TO AUTHENTICATE IT. THE EXTERIOR IS FINISHED IN THE ORIGINAL COLOR OF RALLY RED AND HAS A CORRECT BLACK INTERIOR AND A BLACK VINYL HARDTOP AND A BLACK CONVERTIBLE TOP. WE PURCHASED THIS CAR WITH ABOUT 90% OF THE RESTORATION COMPLETE AND WE FINISHED THE REMAINDER. WE HAVE LOTS OF RECEIPTS SHOWING JUST ABOUT EVERY NUT AND BOLT WAS EITHER RESTORED OR REPLACED. THIS VETT HAS HAD A COMPLETE BODY OFF RESTORATION AND HAS HAD SEVERAL HUNDRED HOURS AND TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT ON THAT ALONE. THE COMPLETE UNDERCARRIAGE AND SUSPENSION IS WELL DETAILED AND HAS ESSENTIALLY ALL NEW PARTS INCLUDING THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION. THE INTERIOR IS ALSO TOTALLY RESTORED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM AND ALL THE GAUGES AND FIBER OPTICS WORK, THE SEATS AND CARPETING ARE ALL NEW AND NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN LEFT UNTOUCHED. THE BODY IS IN VERY NICE SHAPE AND THE PAINT LOOKS GREAT, BUT THE PAINT IS PROBABLY 5-6 YEARS OLD AND HAS SOME MINOR BLEMS AND CHIPS HERE AND THERE BUT NOTHING MAJOR. THE #'S MATCHING ORIGINAL DRIVETRAIN HAS BEEN TOTALLY GONE THROUGH AND SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN UPGRADED INTERNALLY ALONG THE WAY BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER HEARD A STOCK 427 SOUND THIS GOOD OR RUN THIS STRONG!!! THERE IS A HEALTHY CAM THAT HAS A DISTINCT BUMPY IDLE THAT COMES THROUGH THE HOOKER SIDE PIPE EXHAUST SYSTEM AND TURNS EVERY HEAD WITHIN 200 FEET JUST WHEN YOU START THE CAR. WE JUST INSTALLED A MSD DISTRIBUTOR AND A MSD 6A IGNITION BOX TO HELP IGNITE THE FUEL ON THIS HIGH PERFORMANCE MONSTER MOTOR. IT RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT AND SHIFTS THROUGH THE #'S MATCHING 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION VERY NICELY, BUT THE PULL AND THE SOUND OF THIS MOTOR IS WHAT THIS CAR IS ALL ABOUT AND WOULD BE A BONUS TO THE COLLECTOR LOOKING FOR A PEDIGREE BIG BLOCK 4 SPEED TRI-POWER CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE. WE JUST HAD A NEW CONVERTIBLE TOP INSTALLED ALONG WITH ALL NEW WEATHERSTRIPPING AND WE HAD THE TOP FRAME SANDBLASTED AND REPAINTED AS WELL. WE HAVE THE HARDTOP FOR THE CAR AS WELL AND IT IS IN GOOD CONDITION BUT COULD USE SOME DETAIL WORK BEFORE IT IS READY FOR SHOW USE. January 21, 2008. |
